First prize ($7,000) in yesterday's Start-Up Challenge business competition organized by McMaster University went to Orthios -- Terry Sachlos (at left, in photo) and Pina D'Agostino, who developed patient-tailored bone implants to accelerate the healing of fractures. Tying for second place ($5,000) was Digital Dash -- Tim Pryor (centre, in photo), for developing touch-based display technology that allows for customizable dashboards, medical equipment, sound mixing boards, etc. Also tying for second place ($5,000) was Liquid Fibre Displays -- Cristian Nunez (at right, in photo), Nimesh Bahl and Adrian Kitai for developing hybrid LED video displays. Orthios and Liquid Fibre Displays were also winners of free space in the McMaster Innovation Park. The three entries to qualify for May's LaunchPad $50K competition have yet to be determined.
Latest Projects
The latest project happening at McMaster Innovation Park 2010
CANMET-MTL is the 165,000 square foot facility currently under construction and nearing completion that will house the Canadian Government’s Materials Technology Laboratory and is part of the $60M commitment to the Park from the federal government.
